To απόσπασμα αυτό από το διήγημα ”Τα ρόδινα ακρογιάλια” του Αλέξανδρου Παπαδιαμάντη συμπυκνώνει την αισθητική εμπειρία του άλμπουμ “Άνω Βυθός”.
Οι Κο Ishikawa, Νίκος Σιδηρακαστρίτης, Γιώργος Βαρουτάς, Χάρης Λαμπράκης και Άννα Λινάρδου αποδίδουν μία εκστατική ενατένιση της φύσης, κινούμενοι ανάμεσα στην αρχαία μνήμη και τη φαντασία.
Αρχαία όργανα, όπως το Ιαπωνικό shō και το ney της Μέσης Ανατολής, ένα κομμάτι ξύλο ακακίας και μία φωνή, σε συνδυασμό με την ηλεκτροακουστική κιθάρα, τον ηλεκτρονικό ήχο και το live sampling, αποτυπώνουν έναν ποιητικό στοχασμό της θέσης του ανθρώπου ανάμεσα στα θαλάσσια και ουράνια βάθη.
To άλμπουμ ηχογραφήθηκε στην Αθήνα στις 17 Ιανουαρίου 2019 στον χώρο του Underflow Record Store and Art Gallery, ο οποίος διαμορφώθηκε ειδικά για τις ανάγκες της ηχογράφησης και βιντεοσκόπησης του project.
Η κυκλοφορία περιλαμβάνει δύο cd: το πρώτο περιλαμβάνει την ηχογράφηση του κουιντέτου Ishikawa-Sidirokastritis-Varoutas-Lambrakis-Linardou και το δεύτερο την ηχογράφηση του τρίο Ishikawa-Sidirokastritis-Varoutas. Το εσωτερικό του 6 panel digipak διακοσμούν χαρακτικά έργα του Δημήτρη Σιδηροκαστρίτη.

This excerpt from Alexandros Papadiamantis’s novel “The Rose-tinted Shores” sums up the aesthetic experience of the album “The Depths Above”.
Ko Ishikawa, Nikos Sidirokastritis, Giorgos Varoutas, Harris Lambrakis and Anna Linardou interpret the ecstasy of nature, wandering between ancient memory and imagination.
Ancient instruments, such as the Japanese shō and the Middle Eastern ney, a piece of acacia wood and a voice, combined with electroacoustic guitar, electronic sound and live sampling, reflect a poetic contemplation of the human condition between the sea and the depths of the sky.
The album was recorded in Athens on January 17, 2019, at the Underflow Record Store and Art Gallery, which was arranged accordingly for the project’s audio and video recording needs.
The realease includes 2 CDs: the first is the recording of the quintet Ishikawa-Sidirokastritis-Varoutas-Lambrakis-Linardou, and the second the recording of the trio Ishikawa-Sidirokastritis-Varoutas. The interior of the 6 panel digipak is decorated with engravings by Dimitris Sidirokastritis.
